Emerson on Success
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. This is Emerson’s vision of success. What is yours?
“To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch..to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

That is an awesome description of success, Lennie. Thank you for sharing it. It’s interesting that Emerson doesn’t mention anything about money in there. I would be hard pressed to add anything, but reading it inspires me to try to do better in some of these areas.
Thanks for stopping by Brad! I love Emerson too. The only thing I might add to this is to be patient with ourselves – to accept imperfection as a thing of personal beauty and growth so we might learn from our mistakes and still remain whole rather than tearing ourselves apart.
