We Were Right – Building a New Business Paradigm
Remember the anti-establishment movement? The one that had us burn our bras, question authority, denounce materialism, eat health food, embrace other cultures, expand our minds, propel feminism, love each other AND do our own thing?
Well were right! We were on to where we’ve arrived right now.
But somewhere along the line we took a left turn into suburbia, drank the Kool Aid and forgot why it made such sense.
As we build our lives back up, our country back up and our businesses back up, I want to go back and springboard from what we know to move forward. We’ll be looking at this all week.
The Old: Question authority – Look what happened when we stopped questioning! Authority ran rough-shot and took us to the cleaners.
The New: Don’t just Question authority, hold it accountable. There are new ways to enter the conversation through the Web and it influences the way things are run. Don’t just think it, write it, respond to it, find the people who are talking about it and add your voice. It matters again!
The Old: Eat Health Food - remember the Tasahara Cookbook?
The New: Eat local, organic, nutritious and sustainable – eat consciously and support fair trade products.
The Old: Do your thing – be yourself
The New: Do your thing – be transparent and authentic
The echoes of the past are informing the future. What beliefs did you have during the anti-establishment movement that you are returning to anew? And for those of you who are reshaping your beliefs from a different point in history – how to you see your insights converging with the sixties wisdom to usher in a new business paradigm?
