Are You Busy Or Are You Working? Small business advice

Is your day filled with creating new business opportunities or is it sequestered by a flurry of  emails, tweets and social media interactions without much to show for it at the end of the day?  There is a great distinction between being busy and working.  Busy is exhausting.  Working is exhilarating.

Busy is ducking from the information assault.  Working is learning something new.

Busy is reacting.  Working is initiating.

Busy is, “Where did the day go?”   Working is knowing what you accomplished.

  1. Hi Lennie, Your headline caught my eye while I was busy…. hmmm. Great way to put the dilemma. With full in-boxes, readers, voice mail, tweets, it’s easy to let the incoming requests get in front of the long term plan.

  2. Hi Fred,

I saw YOUR comment while I was “busy” learning more about Goggle Reader. hmmm..then hopped over to your blog, (very cool) left my desk, went upstairs and now I’m back finishing this sentence. Feels like being on a Bungee Cord for the brain.

  3. Great post! Time to start concentrating on more working and less being busy.

  4. You know what they say… “The person who loves his job, never works a day in his life”…:)
