We Need A New Name For Monday

We need a new name for Monday.  Sunday sounds like a dessert.  Saturday reminds me of grass and sneakers. But when I think of Monday, I think of the first day of a long week and the only day when I feel completely behind in my entire work week by 10 am on the first day of it.   To add insult to injury – Monday also includes stuff I didn’t do on Sunday.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a transition day? A ramp-up, ease your way in, dip a toe in the water day?   Even adding an extra O might make it happier, like Moonday.  Think of it – Moonday is transition day filled with sprouts, clean socks and exhales.  Tuesday through Friday are back-to-the-wall, knock ‘em dead days and then it’s the week-end again.

Here’s my problem.  If the rest of the world doesn’t go with this schedule and I’m the only one decreeing Moonday is a ramp-up day then by Monday I truly WILL be behind – which is how it feels.  But hey, it’s only noon on the Moon and I can conform!

  1. The evolution of language is already way ahead of you, as the word Monday already means Moon Day, and in almost every language is derived from the word Moon or “Day of the Moon”. In Spanish, for instance, it is “lunes” e.g luna/lunar. The same goes for the word Month, in which the calendar was designed to be approximately as long as the motion and phases of the Moon as it orbits Earth. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monday

Either way, a good excuse for featuring a pic of Buzz Aldrin on your blog!
