Business Connections Chicago - it’s not who you know but how you know them

Tonight is the first Big Ooga Biz Blast at Catalyst Ranch.   Here are my opening remarks.

Good evening everybody. I’m Lennie Rose, and instead of telling you about the Big Ooga, which you can find out by going to the website, I’d rather tell you about why you are Big Ooga people.

Diane runs the Product Development arm and is the marketing manager for Southern Wine and Spirits, the largest spirits and wine distributor in the Midwest.  She has entertained hundreds of thousand of guests at over 10,000  parties for government, charity, civic and cultural causes.  She’s the kind of friend you can call in the middle of the night and when I told her what we were doing she not only backed Big Ooga  without reservation but created the Oogalicious Cocktail.

Bobbie Soeder, marketing director at Catalyst Ranch has hosted huge companies like Leo Burnett, AOL.com, Sara Lee, Baxter and Yahoo.com. Yet she rolled out the red carpet for Big Ooga not just as a friend but as a strategic partner.

Then there’s Pam, who I met in 1985 when I asked her to perform in an elevator in the John Hancock Center during rush hour to debut my first book.  She and the Stardust singers played that elevator like it was Carnegie Hall - and now she’s here to reconnect.

Jenny - Evlove Intimates Founder, President, and friend, built the World’s Largest Thong to debut her company at my suggestion and because she agreed with me that nothing says custom lingerie like a 20-foot black lace thong, she was the first to sign up tonight.

Marc, the quiet Northern Trust financial consultant who married me, Jan Wencel, President of Life Contained, who dropped everything to rush to our office and get us organized.   Erin Shakoor who joined the ATHENA Committee because I asked her.  Our web guys who stood by their budget when the Big Ooga job doubled in scope and size…

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. This night and this company is not about me, it’s about you - the extra mile people in this room and in our resource who care beyond reason, work beyond limits and give professionally beyond generosity.

So what I wish on you tonight, is that you build these kinds of relationships. Because it is not who you know but how you know them..and how they come to know you.
