Big Ooga Facebook Bonk - Small business faux pas

Result of a serious automobile accident.Image via Wikipedia

If you haven’t read the FAQs on Facebook, think of it like your car’s owner’s manual except Facebook still owns the car.  If you push the wrong button, or worse, repeatedly push the wrong button - you get bonked-honked-and taken out of the game. They send you a warning WHILE you’re doing the wrong thing so by the time your warned it’s already too late and they’ve taken you down.

In my case I was trying to get a catering count for the next Big Ooga event May 5th. I aksed too many people individually if  they were coming — with the same exact message.

YES I CUT AND PASTED IT. GUILTY!!!!!!!! With the same link! Guilty! Guilty!

NO, I didn’t make anyone else admin for the event - which by the way is a must. (Be SURE To Get A Second Admin)

But for some reason they have had mercy on my new business. The Facebook Grand Poobah has given me back my precious FB page, which I didn’t know I would miss since it’s relatively new.

How have you solved a crisis in your small business you didn’t know you were having? Have you had a run in with a social media and learned something valuable you can share with the Big Ooga community so we don’t make the same mistake?

  1. I’ve heard of other Facebook users having similar issues. They are very strict about not only their messaging procedures but content issues as well.

  2. Thanks Gary. I lucked out and they smiled on Big Ooga. Yeah for a happy ending.
